Janet B. MilsteinCreator - Host - Actor - Writer - Acting CoachJanet B. Milstein is an actor, award-winning acting instructor, private acting coach, best-selling author, series editor, and filmmaker. She has published sixteen books for actors, written/co-written screenplays and plays, directed and produced both theater and film, and cast numerous projects.
Janet received her MFA in Acting from SUNY Binghamton in New York and her BA in Theatre with Distinction from the University of Delaware. She has performed in plays and films in New York, Chicago, Atlanta, Milwaukee and more. In addition, Janet has been teaching acting privately, at studios and schools, and in workshops around the country for the past 20 years. Janet has an extensive background in theatre, having performed with a variety of companies, including the Milwaukee Repertory Theater, the Organic Theater, Collaboraction, Bailiwick, The Artistic Home, ImprovOlympic, Tinfish Productions, Stage Left Theatre, Mary-Arrchie Theatre, Speaking Ring Theatre, Stockyards, Point of Contention, Women’s Theatre Alliance at Chicago Dramatists, Writers’ Block at the Theatre Building, Symposium at National Pastime Theater, Theatre Q, and more. Janet has appeared in numerous independent films, including the award-winning film Power Singles, the short film Blindsided, Spoiled, written and directed by Carter Martin, the feature film Normal, written and directed by Nicholas Richards, and the film Mr. Goodman by Pradeep Paga to name a few. Janet has written, directed and produced a variety of independent films such as Not Scene (which she wrote and directed) produced by Filmmakers in Action and her co-written, award-winning film Power Singles, produced by Hourglass Films. Janet also wrote, produced and directed the short film The Sleepover in association with Je Suis Talent and Glass City Films. Other films she wrote or directed include Meredith's Magic Wand, Sick Smelly Dirty Politics, Where There's a Will..., The Survivors, Grading Curves, Tweet Revenge, and Fractured. Janet is the Founder of the Chicago Female-Focused Film Meetup & Festival and Bold Vision Films. She is a co-founder of Fearless Flicks. Janet served as a co-organizer of Filmmakers In Action. Janet is also a member of Women in Film and the Chicago Acting in Film Meetup. Janet has represented her publisher, Smith and Kraus, Inc. at conferences around the country.
